Shedding Light on the Truth of Depression

SHEDDING LIGHT ON THE TRUTH OF Depression

“That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight.
But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key”.

Elizabeth Wurtzel

Depression explained by sufferers.

I have seen what it is like & I have witnessed it! A girl in her teens who was once fun-loving & talkative suddenly stopped talking. She cut short meeting everyone & was already suffering from thyroid. Either she was mere happy or became sheer silent. Her depression
was in the earlier stage but her relatives demotivated her by saying stuffs like she doesn’t know anything; like she does not know how to walk. She was pensive of dying & subconsciously developed suicidal tendencies.

Her parents noticed that and took her to the doctor but alas! the doctor wasn’t a Therapist/Analyst treating depression but a neurologist. Medication led to side effects & after a month or so she died due to Brain Hemorrhage, ultimately losing the fight. She was close to her cousin. She wanted to visit her cousin’s home to talk with her & ace back her health, but her parents didn’t agree to the matter. Her parents thought of what people will say if they send her to somebody else’s home. Her parents believed that people will say she was suffering from depression and that was not acceptable of her.

At that time her father came to her rescue, he supported her not only in her hard times but also made her mother understand of what kind of situation she was in. Today she is a successful doctor. Emerged as a fighter, she doesn’t want others to suffer from the same malady and is raising awareness among people.

Can depression be cured?

● Depression is very well curable. The biggest support in this situation is a person’s family and friends. If they are noticing unfavorable patterns in behavior they will
definitely stand up for help.
● “Talking therapy” is also the biggest stress buster, it is also known as psychotherapy. One should talk with the person She/He trusts the most. Let your heart cry out in front of them. Don’t let anything get buried under your heart in such a way that it would make living your life difficult. Sometimes it is okay to not be okay.
